Successfully got the girls off to school without Elsa

By blogging about this it appears I put this on par with landing someone on the moon. And yet I’m sure I forgot something….

LPK’s built in tire assistance

LPK has an air compressor in the back of his van. I mean literally in the back, built in, to his van. Attached to the air hose he has an awesome tire gauge. We tested Pat’s tires and sure enough he needed air. Pat was very concerned that LPK would let out more air than he would put in. His fears were unfounded.

Just one more thing on MBV

The last song of the night – You Made Me Realise – lasted approximately 40 minutes. About 30 of it is just noise – very very loud noise and feedback. It is intended to be a wash of sound/noise, but after a while it was just humorous. I couldn’t help but look around and laugh. Here was a typical shot. Note the guy that is transfixed while the other guy is holding his ears shut.

They gave us all ear plugs as you walked in but some people didn’t use them. Art was one of them. He said that his ears just recently stopped ringing (4 days later).

My Bloody Valentine in Chicago

This was the line to get in, wrapped around the block. They kept telling us “me to the left, ladies to the right”. I couldn’t figure out why the sex disparity, but then once we were inside they frisked everyone for weapons. Luckily I left my Glock at home.

Art, Ryan and I getting ready to ROCK!

MBV on stage. Kevin Shields to the right, Bilinda Butcher on the left, Debbie Googe in the back on bass and Colm O Ciosoig on drums in the back.

I also have a link to a song from the show (when they went through Fuji with it) that is pretty good quality here:

To Here Knows When

I loved seeing them live. It’s been something I’d been looking forward to all summer.

At the Pike Place Market

We did the Pike Place Fish Market last Saturday with Tamara and Steve Johnson – my (my mom’s) cousin and her husband. Dahlia joined me as Monti and Elsa were at Monti’s audition (see Elsa’s blog for more on that). Was good to see both of them – they had just gotten off a cruise to Alaska. We then went out for some Thai food at one of my favorite places – Typhoon – near Pike Place. We did the Pike Place Fish Market last Saturday with Tamara and Steve Johnson – my (my mom’s) cousin and her husband. We used a pic similar to this for Monti’s headshot for her auditions this weekend. The other one was better.

Dahlia turns 5

Dahlia turned 5 today. During the trip back from TN, she said two of the funniest things. She is a very angry girl at times, especially with respect to Monti.

On the way to the funeral, Dahlia was very mad that Eliza couldn’t ride with us in our van (she couldn’t ride with us as we had a lot of old peanut shells and such in the messy van). She threw a big fit which culminated in her yelling:

“I’m SO MAD!!!! I’M NOT going to have curly hair anymore!!!!!!!!”

Then later, she was fighting with Monti and said:

“I HATE my sister. I want all HER CLOTHES!!!”

I hope we can get a handle on this anger she has. But she is a cutie pie nonetheless.
